I am Crisp and I live in Brussels, Belgium. Outside office hours, I am on my bike as much as possible, riding through Belgium or on self-planned bike tours in Europe. I have ridden in over 20 countries and want to ride through loads more. Over a number of years, I rode in stages between the Belgian coast and Istanbul. In 2019, I started another multi-year ride, between the southernmost tip of Europe and the northernmost tip. For now, the pandemic thing has put that on pause, but maybe in October…
I started this site because all the non-commercial sites about bike touring that I looked at seemed to be about bikepacking or bike touring with a tent and cooking stove. Great if that is your thing or what works for your budget, but a bit off-putting for many people, who want something a little easier and more comfortable.
My philosophy of bike touring is that it should be fun. For me that means four or five hours on the bike followed by checking into a comfy hotel room, and a nice fat dinner in town with a glass of good wine. Or two. For purely medicinal purposes.
When I started this site in January 2020, I thought that I would talk about this more comfortable form of bike touring. Fate had other ideas, so I have ended up writing about other things entirely: the joys of cycling, cooking food, and above all, living your full life while you can.
And comfy bike touring is an excellent way to do so.
